Union appoints town justice, restricts battery storage

NY UNION — Union Town Board appoints justice, approves equipment spending. The board unanimously appointed Thomas Dellapenna Jr. as Town Justice, effective upon pre-employment testing, and approved capital projects and equipment totaling $278,373, including a 2026 Caterpillar mini excavator (net cost $25,000), Ford truck ($231,873), and fence work ($21,500). The board accepted the resignation of Director of Economic Development Joe Moody (effective July 3) and hired summer clerk Rujul Taiwade at $15.50 per hour.
A temporary moratorium on battery storage energy systems development was also unanimously approved.
